The Blue Whale Challenge seems to have captivated the minds of teenagers across the world and incidents in India have been on the rise too. Karan – the latest victim of this challenge as claimed by his parents, killed himself by hanging from a fan. He was barely 16 years old. Before committing suicide, this student of class X of DAV School had made sketches of various suicide options in his Maths notebook. Karan hanged himself while his parents and brother were away.
As per his parents, Karan was addicted to mobile games and had also requested to be taken to a psychiatrist. His phone is being checked for any other clue. Karan had reportedly completed 2 tasks which seem to be of the infamous game. Karan’s mobile, laptop and notebook are in police’s custody for further investigation. The notebook had some depressing statements like “No one likes me”, “No one loves me”, “They just use me”, “I don’t deserve to live”. A WhatsApp display picture (DP) on the number of the victim stated: “Don’t get to close..It’s dark inside. It’s where my demons hide….”. The police claims to have identified 5 friends of Karan, who are playing the deadly game and have alerted parents.
The creator of the game, Philipp Budeikin, was sentenced to three years of jail by a court in Russia this past July for having incited at least 16 schoolgirls to kill themselves. He is reported to have told investigators when he was arrested that he was "cleansing society".
