Mohali to get 20MGD of water from 2022

Mohali MLA and Former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu announced that as a new year gift Mohali Residents will get 20MGD of uninterrupted water supply daily from the Kajauli Water works from 2022.

It was a huge project and with this he had fulfilled another promise made to the people of Mohali. 200 Crore has been spent on the laying of 23 KM long pipelines from Kajauli to Mohali while 95 lakhs was spent on the construction of water treatment plant alone.

This will definitely reduce the dependence of the city on tubewell and would help conserving the ground water.

Kajauli waterworks is located on the Bhakra mainline canal near Morinda in Rupnagar district, from where the water requirements of Chandigarh, Mohali and Chandimandir are met. Chandigarh has already started receiving an additional supply of 35 MGD from Phase 5 and 6. The additional supply for Mohali got delayed due to pending work at the water treatment plant coming up at Singhpura.
